It's good food and a good cause today for the Mankato Eagle's Club. The
organization paired up with the ISJ Foundation to raise money for Immanuel
St. Joseph's cancer unit with their 13th annual "Bite a Burger". All
day today, members of the club served and delivered hamburgers,
cheeseburgers and tator tots. The club expects they'll raise around 14
thousand dollars with all their fundraisers this month and they say over
half of that will come in today from sales of their four dollar burgers.
Part of Eagle's vision and mission is to raise money for various charities
and the Eagle's Club in Mankato decided our focus for one of the months is
to raise money for cancer. The event continues until eight o'clock this
evening. If you'd like some burgers delivered to your business, just call
the Eagle's Club at 507-625-9701.

The Eagles club kicked off its cancer support month activities today with an
all you can eat brunch buffet. About 200 people showed up for the event
which was held at the eagles club in Mankato. They were eager to help the
cause. We opened at ten in the morning and we had a line up down the block,
people waiting to get in. So, very exciting. In the last ten years, this
group has raised over one hundred thousand dollars for cancer. All of the
money goes to the Immanuel St. Joseph's cancer foundation. Cancer has
personally affected many of the eagles members lives. One member who lost
her aunt to cancer in December says this event is truly heartwarming. It's
very comforting to me that they just donate things for cancer, and I just
love everybody for being a part. The eagles' next event to raise money for
cancer will also be a brunch and will be held next Sunday from 10 AM to 1pm.
